2016 Fall Cruise2016
Minnesota River Valley and New Ulm
Saturday, Oct. 15th started out cool with gray skies and a moderate breeze, but at least it was dry. We all met in St. Bonifacius, and headed south along scenic byways toward the Erickson home near Mankato. Doug and Sue Erickson showed us around their home and the memorabilia Doug has collected - bottle openers lined up by year, vintage license plates, a 1904 pool table from the Oddfellows Hall, a working 1940 jukebox. Then we headed toward New Ulm, along rustic Judson Bottom Road for the remarkably beautiful scenery. Lunch was at the Kaiserhoff German restaurant in New Ulm. It was also Oktoberfest in town, and the place was hopping. After lunch, we went up the hill to see the statue of Hermann the German, with a marvelous panoramic view of the town and river valley.
